Stretchable electroluminescent devices have garnered significant attention due to their transformative potential in applications ranging from wearable displays to implantable light. Particularly, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) based on the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) mechanism hold much allure because of their unity internal quantum efficiency and environmental-/bio-compatibility. I will talk about our recent works on developing fully stretchable OLED materials and devices based on TADF mechanism. (Liu, W. et. al. Nat. Mater. 2023, 22, 736.)


Accompanied by the rapidly increased use of polymer-type semiconducting materials, the end-life disposal of these polymers, similar to the plastic pollution issues of commodity polymers, could potentially pose severe threats to the environment. I will also talk about our recent design concept for creating depolymerizable and potentially recyclable TADF polymers, opening new sustainable possibilities for the application of luminescent materials in diverse photonic technologies.
